Stone
- Slate
What
butterflies and slate have in common is that both started
out as something else entirely...
Until
the movement of the earth's tectonic plates, slates were
just shales or humble mudstones. The enormous pressures
involved in this shift then changed their identities forever.
These titanic forces realigned the minerals, mica and chlorite,
contained within the deposits, forming smooth, flat layers,
until they become new rocks entirely - metamorphic rocks,
from the Greek, 'to change', hence the butterfly connection.

Green
Never let it be said that slates
are dull. Each has a unique depth of character that
is always rewarding to those who choose to look a
little closer. Subtle, yes, like these greys and
greens, cut for the depth of colour, with darkest,
moth-like tones and textures - but dull, never.
Andes
Dawn
This is a purple slate and so good to look at it deserves a special place
in your home to show it off. A dining room or hallway perhaps, taken
through uninterrupted to be introduced to your guests in the dining room
or your special guests in your kitchen. Andes Dawn is beautiful in daylight
and extraordinarily rich in hue, spot-lit, after dark.
